[12] Trusting the Path Ahead

[12] Trusting the Path Ahead

Welcome, and thank you for being here.

There was a time when my thoughts were always a few steps ahead.  I would wonder what the future might look like.  Question if I was doing enough.  Hope that what I was building today would somehow be enough for tomorrow.

The future felt like something I had to prepare for carefully, to manage, to get right.  Over time, that feeling has softened.

Learning to Stay with What Is Here

I have come to understand that this journey cannot be rushed.  It unfolds in its own quiet rhythm.  Not according to plans or expectations, but in ways that reveal themselves slowly, often only when we pause long enough to notice.

When I stopped constantly looking ahead, something within me eased.  I began to see more clearly what was already present.

Growth That Gently Unfolds

There were moments when I wished progress would come faster.  When I hoped for clearer signs, more certainty, something that would reassure me that we were moving in the “right” direction.  But growth, especially for a childlike Alister, does not respond to pressure.

It responds to safety.  To consistency.  To patience.

And most of all, to being allowed to unfold in its own time.

Trusting What Has Taken Root

Looking back, I can see that so much has already been built.

The routines.  The calm.  The quiet independence that has grown, almost unnoticed, over the years.  These were not sudden changes.  They were formed gently, through repetition, through care, through showing up every day.  And because of that, they hold.

When Fear Becomes Quieter

There was a time when fear stayed very close.  Fear of the unknown.  Fear of whether he would be alright.  Fear of whether I was making the right decisions.  That fear has not disappeared entirely.  But it no longer leads.

Because I have seen, again and again, that when a strong foundation is in place, growth finds its way.

A Quiet Kind of Confidence

What I feel today is not certainty.  It is something softer.  A quiet confidence.  A trust that what has been built with patience, care, and love will continue to support him, even in ways I cannot yet see.

A Gentle Reflection for Other Parents

If you find yourself worrying about what lies ahead, I understand that feeling deeply.  But perhaps, just for a moment, allow yourself to pause.  Look at what is already here.  The calm that was once difficult.  The small independence that has taken shape. The connection that continues to grow.

These things matter more than we often realise.  And they will carry forward.

A Quiet Closing Thought

The future is not something we need to hold tightly.  Sometimes, it is something we learn to trust.  And when we do, we begin to see that what we have built, day by day, is already enough to carry us forward.

With warmth and quiet trust,

A Proud Mom
